Lazer Tag FAQs

These Lazer-Tag FAQs will go a long way to helping you to learn lots about our exciting Laser-Tag Arena.

To really grasp what it’s all about, just ask us to show you around next time you visit Play2Day Family Entertainment Centre.

We’ll start with the obvious question. What’s Lazer-Tag all about?
Lazer-Tag is adrenalin filled fun for ALL the family. It’s a high-tech fast action lazer game adventure played in a two level arena. Plus it has with amazing ultraviolet artwork and pulse pumping sounds!

Does it hurt?
No! You can’t feel it. Our Lazer-Tag Phasers emit a harmless beam of infrared and a targeting lazer.

What is Lazer-Tag?
Lazer-Tag is adrenalin filled fun for ALL the family. It’s a high-tech fast action lazer game adventure played in an exciting two level arena.

What equipment will I use?
You’ll use a vest and phaser system.  The vest is ultra thin, ultra lightweight and comfortable for children, teens and adults. They contain bright LED lights which can be any one of eight colours at any time.

The phaser is very sophisticated but also very simple to use. They incorporate a messenger service using an LCD screen to tell players their ‘game name’, what state they are in, who tagged them, etc.

How safe is the phaser?
The phaser has features to keep you safe.  You’ll need to keep both hands on the phaser to play, which means you’re unlikely to wave it around and hit someone.  And it features a gundom so if you accidently bump into another player they will be protected by a rubberized tip.

How long does it last?
You’ll need to allow around 5 minutes to watch the briefing video and get your pack on and 10 minutes for your game. You’ll then need to add on a few minutes between game to see your score and a few minutes to take off your pack.

Are their bases?
Yes, there are two bases and if you get the opportunity to destroy a base fire away because you’ll get lots of points!

Can we choose what type of game we play?
Yes, when you’ve reached a consensus we can easily select different games for you. Although children are far more likely to want to play team games than solo games.

What clothes should I wear?
Something comfortable that allows you to move freely. Maybe a sweatshirt or similar would be good in winter. Trainers are fine or boots with ankle support and this may sound obvious but high heels and flip flops are unsuitable. And don’t wear anything such as buckles that could get caught in the netting.

What is the minimum age?
For guidance purposes, we say six-yrs, but we have six-yr-olds having a great time and seven-year-olds crying for their mummy so it’s really down to the development of your child. If you’re unsure if your child is ready to play, just ask us to show you around the Arena and your child will soon tell you!

Can I help my child put on the Lazer-Tag vest?
Yes, please do! It helps because the packs need to be put on in the same way as a cardigan, which confuses some children and fastened with two clips at the front.

Can I walk around with my children while they are playing?
Yes if your young child needs close supervision but it’s not advisable.

Can I watch my children play?
There is no spectator facility but you are welcome to stand at the Arena entrance.

Is food and drink available?
Yes, our Lazer-Tag Arena and Ten Pin Bowling Centre share facilities including a bar and comprehensive menu.  (Plus arcade machines and toilets)

Will there just be my group playing in the Arena?
Unless you’ve booked a Private Hire session or a Party there may be others playing at the same time.

But don’t let this put you off because more players mean more targets and more fun!

Do I have to book?
If you’re not having a Party or Private Hire you can just turn up and play. However, if you’ve a big group or want to ensure you play at a certain time then it’s best to give us a call.

Do you do deals and discounts?
Yes, we do and lots of them because everyone loves a deal! Please take a look on the Lazer-Tag Prices page and our Facebook page too.

I’ve never played Lazer-Tag before, can you tell me how to play?
Of course! Before you play your first game you will watch a short two-minute video showing you how to play and how to play safely.

In addition, a member of staff will be present to give you further information, answer your questions and deal with any problems if they arise during your game.

What’s the minimum and the maximum number of players?
From 2 to 24 players can play at any one time. If your group is larger than 24 you can still play because we’ll simply divide you into two groups. And remember, more players means more fun!

Can adults and children play together?
Yes, and they’ll have a great time because there’s no physical contact and Lazer-Tag is a family game!

How can I find out my score?

Upon the conclusion of your game, you will be asked to remove your packs and guided towards the screen in theTen Pin Bowling Centre.  However, if you’ve another game to play you’ll be guided back into the Briefing Room to see your score.

What about if it rains?
The Lazer-Tag Arena is indoors so you don’t have to worry about rain, wind or mud!

Is the Lazer-Tag Arena suitable for disabled people?
Yes, although they may have difficulty reaching the upper levels.

If I make a booking, do I have to pay at the same time?
Only if you’ve booked a Private Hire or a Party.

How many games can I play in a one-hour Private Hire?
Depends on how long you take to check your scores between games but usually five. Of course, it also depends upon your stamina!

Is there loud music?
I wouldn’t call it music, more like pulse-pumping sounds!
